Dear Moon,
How are you my precious? Hope this letter finds you in great health. Is my little princess angry with me for not sending a letter every week? I am so sorry, I could not keep my promise. But I know my princess is very understanding and she knows her papa is on an important mission and sometimes misses the mail.
This week I am stationed at Laguna Colorada, the red lagoon, in Bolivia. A rare breed of flamingo has flocked to this area for centuries. You know no, what are flamingos? They are wading birds like cranes of flame red color. Usually stand on one leg(isn’t that a very curious case?) and a very interesting creature to observe. However, lately their number has reduced significantly. So the government has roped me for a secret mission to trap the poachers who are capturing these endangered species and smuggling their eggs. It is a very dangerous mission so the government trusts only your papa to carry it out.
This lake usually shows off the fiery tint. But as I am writing this letter to you today, the mountains have captured the sunlight and the smolder. And the ultimate result is heavenly. But even such beauty cannot gratify my heart when you are so far away. Someday we will visit these places together. Keep well and give my love to Mamma.
With lots of hugs and kisses
Papa

“Look Mama, papa’s letter arrived today. He is now visiting a lovely place, he is missing me and have promised me to take there someday.”
The sad smile on her Mamma’s face did not encourage Moon to discuss further and she went away to find her best friend to share the story of flamingoes.
Once an aspiring writer now a hard. working single mother, sighed, thanking God that Moon was still too young to notice the local stamp on the letter. The wind ruffled the pages of the letter pad on the table.
